Rhetorical questions are used in some blogging communities to cultivate thoughtful responses. Others may require more effort on the part of the blogger; answering rhetorical questions too quickly is generally frowned upon, though not always (see A*). Some bloggers will post 'bathos', or text that is typically assumed to be humorous, but which has an actual message underneath it (see "Meta-humor"). Blogging may simply be a hobby or a form of entertainment, but it can also serve educational purposes. In the classroom, teachers have been using student blogs as a vehicle for critical thinking and authentic assessments.
In the current context of social networking sites, blogs have been used as a tool to express individual opinions and ideas in a way that is more reflective of informal conversation than published writing or journalism. Blogs often allow readers to comment on entries immediately, creating a forum-like atmosphere. An online magazine is an electronic magazine published on the Internet and usually available from multiple sources for free or at a low cost. Online magazines usually contain articles in the form of text, photos and video. There is no standard format for the magazine; it may be accessible by computer, tablet or mobile device.
